Chiltern Centre Donation

All proceeds from the programme sales at Shiplake College’s ‘Friday Night Lights’ rugby event in November have been donated to the Chiltern Centre in Henley-on-Thames.

This charity provides crucial support to disabled children and young adults in the local area. Their range of disability care services give these young people the chance to get the most out of life, whilst giving practical support to parents and families caring for them. The centre itself is a wonderful purpose-built care home featuring a multi-sensory room, comfortable lounge and spacious dining area equipped with a television and computers. The safe, secluded garden with colourful purpose-built play equipment offers a fun space for youngsters to let off steam.

At Shiplake College, we are committed to supporting local charities in any way we can. The Chiltern Centre has a long-standing relationship with Orchard House. Pupils and staff in Orchard organise several fundraising activities across the year to provide support. The College Rugby Club were delighted to be able to use this opportunity to provide additional support to this very worthy cause, and thank all spectators on behalf of the charity for their generous donations.

Earlier this week, Rugby captain Alex Collis visited the centre on their ‘team day’ to meet the staff and present a cheque for £183.
