Emma-Jane Taylor’s Tappers were the surprise performance last night at the Henley Youth Centre. They themed their presentation on Rodgers & Hammerstein. Emma said, “They have worked on their routines from September onwards and are thrilled to be involved with Henley Living Advent Calendar.” The first routine was a cowboy dance with the tappers wearing checked shirts and cowboy hats, then there was a quick change when the tappers took off their shirts and donned black hats for a Fred Astaire routine. The audience loved the performance and cheered for an encore but unfortunately for the first time they weren’t granted.
Emma-Jane runs classes for beginners, improvers and advanced and they take place weekly throughout term time at The Studio, Henley. Emma says, “They’re great fun, you get lots of exercise and the chance to make new friends.” If you’re interested in joining the group please visit www.stageworks.org.uk or call 01491 877205.
The evening was sponsored by In the Groove Records which provided the refreshments of canapes and mulled wine. The raffle had two prizes last night of a bottle of Prosseco and an ice skating trip. The raffle money every night goes to the four chosen charities; British Legion Poppy Appeal, Henley Youth Centre, Oceans Project and the Regatta for the Disabled.
Tonight the venue is The Bull on Bell Street, I wonder what’s behind the door tonight. Why not come along and find out?
