Christmas has come early for the residents and staff of a Henley-on-Thames care home after their futures were secured by an international care provider.

Due to the difficulties of its previous owners, Acacia Lodge on Quebec Road, Henley-on-Thames, has been in the hands of administrators for more than a year.

This week, the care home which provides high quality residential, nursing and dementia care to 55 residents, has been bought by Henley Care Management Limited, part of The Golden House group.

For Stephanie Jones, the home manager, the news couldn’t have come at a better time.

She said: “To have the future hanging in the balance has been unsettling for us all, in particular those we care for. We’ll be having a double celebration this Christmas knowing that the new year is going to be something we can all look forward to.”

Despite the recent uncertainty relating to the ownership, Acacia Lodge has remained one of the most popular care homes in the community with a waiting list of potential clients eager to make it their home.

The original care team of 80 people, led by Stephanie, will be staying to provide continuity of care for all 55 residents.

Stephanie added: “We are a very close knit family here at Acacia Lodge so it is important that to continue with our high standards of care we keep the same names and faces. To know that the 55 residents we care for can be confident that they are remaining in the home they love is wonderful. For our 80 staff to know that their jobs are secure is equally amazing this Christmas

“All our carers and nurses are fully qualified and receive ongoing professional training – but more than this they are genuinely passionate about caring for the elderly. This is reflected in everything carers do. Happy, content and well-looked after residents is our only goal and it is reassuring that our new owners buy into that philosophy.”

Acacia Lodge is an elegant purpose built care facility offering nursing, residential and dementia care, which was opened in 2011 and became fully occupied very soon after. It is bright and airy, with a stylish décor and state-of-the-art facilities throughout, from the communal spaces to individual bedrooms.

The Golden House, which has operated in the senior care sector for 30 years, is expanding its operation into the UK care market. The day-to-day running of the home will be managed by Pressbeau Ltd – an experienced UK based care provider – which already operates several care homes.
