A group of BTEC Extended Diploma Business students from The Henley College staged an event at the Henley Over-60s club to help raise essential funds for the Sue Ryder centre in Nettlebed.
The students, in the second year of their course, are challenged to manage a business event as part of their studies. The team of eight students decided to screen various horse races with a prize-giving session at the end for those who successfully bet on the winning races. Student, Sheh-Zeb Khan, said: ‘It’s great to raise money for Sue Ryder but it is also great for us to provide some fun and entertainment for the local community too.’
The College’s Clare Forgie said: ‘This is the second year that Business students at the College have helped to raise money through Sue Ryder’s ‘Big Wigs’ business challenge and this particular event raised £150 thanks to the Over 60s Club and its manager, Lynda Mortimer.’
