Gainsborough Residents Present Charity Cheques and Discuss Next Projects

gainsborough-cheque-2Gainsborough Residents Dave Eggleton and Paula Isaac presented two cheques for £500 each from the money raised at the Auction of Promises & Raffle in September to Headway Henley and the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance on Saturday morning.  Further cheques will be presented to Bishopwood School and Children’s Cancer Leukemia Group based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

After the cheque presentations there was then a Gainsborough gainsborough-cheques-1Residents’ Meeting at the Scout Hall when they discussed the dog fouling issue on the Makins play park and around the estate, and replacing the dog litter signs which were vandalised a couple of weeks ago.

Paula updated the group about the proposed new community hall.  She has sent a letter to Soha Housing asking them to donate the disused car park site opposite the recreation ground to the Gainsborough Residents Association, for the sole purpose of building a community hall for residents.  She said, “We are waiting for it to go to senior management for approval at a meeting on 17 December, we should have a decision shortly after.”

gainsborough-res-meeting-novDave let the group know that he is currently liaising with SODC to get some salt bins placed on the estate before the nasty weather sets in.

Both Dave and Paul would like to encourage more residents to get involved in projects, “We are still looking for more volunteers to join the association and help out with projects.”

A new Gainsborough Residents Newsletter, kindly printed by Soha Housing will be distributed to all residents in the next couple of weeks.  .
