Town Council Backs Henley Residents and Votes to Give Funding to New Skatepark

SKATEPARK-3

c Ollie Webb

The Henley Skatepark Initiative (HSI) would like to thank everyone involved, and everyone who supports the project, but we would like to extend particular thanks to The Mayor, Councillor Kellie Hinton, Henley Residents Group, all the Councillors who voted to back the project financially, and all the Henley Town Council support staff.

Backing from our local authority is very important because having partnership funding in place will give us a much greater chance of success when applying to funding from grant bodies.

As I said in my speech,  “The HSI have proven that there is a genuine need for a new skatepark in Henley. We have proven that our plans are viable, feasible, sustainable and cost-effective.

There is a massive amount of community support behind this project. All the kids in the schools are talking about it ……. The headteachers are talking about it. …… there is a buzz in the town about it.

This will be free-to-use facility, for young to old, male or female, beginners to experts. A family orientated facility, a harmonious place, full of good-willing, a community within our community, surrounded by paths, gentle grass banks and beautiful trees. Around the finished facility, we plan to create sports clubs, training sessions, under-eights sessions, girls only sessions, a disabled session, a veterans session.”
