Box of Smiles Opens its Cheerful Lid for Business

BOX-OF-SMILES-logo[margin10]A local mother-of-two, Sarah Gilbert, has recently launched a personal and thoughtful range of products predominantly aimed at young children. Sarah’s first product was a ‘Get Better Box’. “When I was a child, my mother would give me a shoebox filled with fun things I could play with if I was ill in bed. I started making ‘Get Better Boxes’ for friends’ children if they were unwell or had a hospital visit”.  Laura Vann, mother to Miley – three years old and Eliza – one year old, received a ‘Get Better Box’ when Miley went into hospital to have his tonsils out. “Although a routine operation it was a stressful time for both of us. Sarah’s Get Better Box was full of little gifts that she knew would make Miley (and me!) smile and keep him entertained in hospital. It was probably one of the most thoughtful gifts he has ever received and we still use it today when he is not feeling very well”. Sarah received similar positive responses for other boxes she made, so she decided to take it to the next level and launch a playful brand with a retro twist – Box of Smiles.

A ‘Journey Pack’, an alternative amusement tool to a tablet, quickly followed. “I wanted to see if I could keep my young children entertained during long journeys or restaurant visits, without having to rely solely on technology”. Other products include a ‘Welcome to the World Box’ for new babies, featuring a selection of thoughtful gifts which provide a more exciting substitute to the popular body suit. The ‘My First Christmas Box’  encapsulates everything a little one Box-of-Smiles-Christmas-Boxneeds to get them into the spirit of their first Christmas and for slightly older children, the ‘Christmas Box’ is bursting with little treats and surprises. Watch this space for the ‘Explorer Pack’, ‘My Birthday Box’ and pretty reusable party bags.

Box of Smiles will be featured at Henley’s Love Local Christmas Market on Thursday 21 November between 10am – 2pm. You can find out more about these made to order personalised boxes at www.facebook.com/boxofsmiles79.
