The 7th Women of Achievement Awards sponsored by Invesco Perpetual were held on Thursday (17 October) night at the Millennium Madejski Hotel, Reading. The Women of Achievement Awards recognise inspirational women in the local communities of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and all they have achieved.
There are five nomination categories, seeking to recognise women who have done amazing things in business, the community, sports or a creative field. Henley women won two of the awards on Thursday night.
Naomi Vallance, singer and songwriter who lives in Reading Road Henley won the Performer of the Year. Naomi has performed at the last two years at the Henley Fringe and said afterwards, “Totally unexpected! So proud and honoured. Just what I needed after this tough year!”
The Junior U16 quad from Henley Rowing Club – Hattie Orr, Ellie Thompson, Maddie Orr, Lauren Edwards and cox Emma Lister won the young achievers of the year which was presented to them by Olympic gold medallist Katherine Grainger. The crew have won at many of the major junior rowing events this year including the National Schools’ Regatta held in Nottingham in May. Henley Rowing Club tweeted “Congratulations girls, your club is proud of you!”
