On Sunday 6 October, Reading’s Skiplex hosted a Slide2Sochi roadshow, which aimed to engage people in snow sports.
Visitors could pick up hints and tips from BBC Ski Sunday presenter and Henley Resident Graham Bellthe and three-time Olympian Chemmy Alcott and also enjoy the Skiplex slopes at a hugely discounted price. In the run up to the Sochi Olympics and Paralympics in Russia, Snowsport England are keen to harness the current buzz surrounding snow sports with their new national participation campaign GO SKI GO BOARD.
Skiplex is a new way to learn how to ski or snowboard, get your ski legs back or fine tune technique. The revolving slopes are made of a forgiving carpet-like material which is much softer than the traditional dry slopes and the speed and gradient can be altered to suit all abilities.
Organisers ensured the day was fun for all the family with face painting, a barbeque and a giant good luck snowball.
