Henley Narrowly Miss Gold in National RHS Awards

henley-in-bloomHenley narrowly missed out on receiving the top Gold prize at the Royal Horticultural Society Bloom Awards on Saturday in Cleethorpes by only a few points and were awarded Silver Gilt in the Town category.

There were lots of positive comments from the National judges including…

“You can all be proud of your Bloom campaign, as throughout the visit you showcased your beautiful environment and location to the full.  It was pleasing to see so many agencies involved in delivery the wide range of services and activities required of a Bloom visit and give the disruption of holding one of the country’s great events, the Henley Royal Regatta and other festivals, it is quite clear that you have an effective, creative and enthusiastic Bloom team.”

“The judges were impressed with the way in which all areas of the community have been involved in creating almost a festival approach to the Bloom campaign and future judges can really look forward to visits to your beautiful town.”

Kellie Hinton, Chair of the Henley in Bloom Committee said, “The judges gave us some great positive feedback and some areas we need to work on for next time.  We have begun to plant loads of bulbs all round Henley so that’s a good start.”
