Local young filmmakers have a unique opportunity to see their work on the big screen thanks to a new Living Advent Competition, supported by The Regal Picturehouse. They have teamed up to find the best winter-themed films made by talented local youngsters.
The best film as decided by the panel of judges will be shown at the Regal on 3 December at 6.15pm as that evening’s Living Advent Calendar entertainment. The winner will also receive £50 in Amazon vouchers.
A selection of the best entries will also be available to watch online on the Living Advent Calendar website @ http://www.livingadventcalendar.co.uk/index-0.html
The film showing will be the first in the three-year history of the Living Advent Calendar, and chair Julie Perigo is excited to see filmmakers’ responses to the call for entries.
“Over the years young people have taken part in lots of performances for the Living Advent Calendar but this is something a little bit different. Whether it’s drama, documentary, a comedy, even an animation (?) anything goes as long as it fits within the Christmas and winter theme and is between two and three minutes long. Judges will especially appreciate films which have connections to Henley and the local area in some way.
“Events like Henley Youth Festival show the depth of talent local young people have, and the prevalence of simple and affordable technology like camera phones means people can shoot films more easily than ever. We’re very excited to see what we get and are hoping that not just individuals but school groups, clubs and associations are inspired to make something and take part.”
The competition is open to anyone under the age of 25 who lives, works or studies in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire or Berkshire.

Deadline for entries is 18 November 2013.
