Henley in Bloom Awards Highlight Communities’ Contribution to Beautiful Town

gainsborough-treesWednesday evening was a celebration of all things green and flowering in the Council Chambers at the Henley Town Hall. Community spirit was high as Henley residents were awarded for the time and effort they had put towards transforming Henley into a blossoming tourist attraction.

Notable award winners included Jeff Childs and Martin Kurtis for their contribution to community gardens whilst Heather Durrant was the overall winner for garden of Henley.

David Eggleton rightly won the Pride in Your Place award on behalf of the Gainsborough Residents Association, whose recent fundraising auction and raffle raised over £2,500.

Gardening Buddies, who are supported by Henley’s Hotel du Vin, bestowed Viv Greenwood with the Gardening Buddy of the Year award and Henley on Thames Allotment Association gave out numerous awards for best plots, both overall and for newcomers, as well as best allotment community contributors.

Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak surmised the feelings of town pride well, ‘Henley is looking really lovely this year.’
