60 Cities for 60 Years Incredible Care

sue-ryder-60-city-carRichard Morris, a sales volunteer at the Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice, set off on a big personal challenge on 16 September in memory of his father who was a patient at Nettlebed.

Richard said, “To celebrate 60 years of incredible care Sue Ryder has given to people needing care, it seemed only right that 60 years required 60 something.”

So he decided to drive around continental Europe and visit 60 major cities in the shortest time possible in a 10 year old Toyota Avensis which he describes as his ‘beautiful companion’. He has named her Toni, after his father Tony Morris.

He started and will finish at Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice and will drive daily until he drops, the total distance travelled will probably be about 10,500 miles which is the equivalent of driving all the way to South Australia or from Oxford to Inverness every day for 3 weeks! He has just crossed the border into Sweden and is about city 45 on his 60 city trip!

Richard went on to say, “When I decided to do this journey I had no idea what I was letting myself in for and people have been so kind, offering support in so many different ways. A lovely company has offered me spare parts for the car; another has offered to pay all my toll charges, every day I am astounded by people’s generosity. My goal is to raise £60,000 pounds. That’s enough money to cover two years costs of the bereavement service at the hospice.

Richard is hoping to return later this week or early next week.
