On 10 September nearly 200 invited guests attended The Henley College’s annual Education Awards ceremony, celebrating students’ achievements.
College Principal, Tom Espley, said: ‘I was delighted to see our students, many of whom are about to go off to university, returning with their families for this evening’s ceremony.
The Henley College’s annual Education Awards are designed to recognise achievement, as well as effort, enterprise and service to the College community. I would like to congratulate all of our award winners and wish them every success in the future.’
50 awards were presented in total, with prizes sponsored by local organisations including Invesco, The Henley Standard, BCD Travel, WH Smith, the Rotary Club of Henley Bridge and Henley Theatre Services.
Winners included Louisa Carlisle from Sonning Common. Described by her tutors as ‘an outstanding science and maths student’, she will be pursuing a natural science degree at the University of Cambridge.
James Godwin, from Henley, achieved top grades and will be studying mechanical engineering design at Cardiff University. He will eventually be joined at Cardiff by Jake Smith, also from Henley, who was awarded the Government and Politics prize, sponsored by Henley Business School.
A Level students at the College recently celebrated an impressive overall pass rate of 98%, with a fifth of achieved grades an A or A*, despite the downward pressure on higher grades nationally.
